Honestly, the answer to this question is not definite as PhD Program can also take 4 – 7 years depending on the various factors, such as: 1. You have a master’s degree or not? 2. The domain in which you are working, if you take a topic with only little existing information, then it will take a longer time. 3. Your motivation: It also depends on how motivated you are throughout your PhD program, as when I was doing my PhD only one person was able to do it in 3 and a half years. So it is difficult to complete the PhD program in three years, but if you are motivated enough, then you can think about it. 4. Your mentor: Your PhD duration chiefly depends on your mentor and on the factors such as how much he is supporting you, he approves your dissertation on time or not.

In my opinion, it is not at all difficult to complete PhD program in three years, I did it in three years, but yes, many of the scholars need an extension to complete their thesis writing. Most of them finish it in four years. For completing it in three years, you have to be regular.
