Hey, congratulations! I think it’s great that you have been called for an interview, You have crossed the most challenging path, but beware as hurdles are still there in your way, you must not take PhD interview lightly and should prepare for it in every possible way. Basically, in the interview, they will check that if you are genuinely interested in doing PhD or not, they will test your motivation. It is an opportunity for you to prove the committee that yes, you are made for it, tell them why it interests you, why you want to do it, show them that you are doing it out of your passion.

I will brief you with some of the points which you should make a checklist of before going for interview: Examine your research proposal or statement of purpose. Be prepared to talk about your research interests in detail. Think about your motivation for pursuing a PhD. Read your potential supervisor’s work. Familiarize yourself with current scholarship in the field.

I have given the PhD interview and trust me it’s exciting only if you are genuinely interested in it if not then it will be the worst nightmare ever for you. I am telling you some of the questions which they could ask you. How will this PhD help you in your career? How will you learn from this PhD? What lead you to choose this field? How will you go on with your research?

Have you ever heard of skype interviews? NO? Oh, wait I have given that and also, it was decided on the last moment as I was heading towards the location of the interview and suddenly I got a call saying that I have skype interview instead of face to face interview because of some urgent meeting of the committee which was supposed to take my interview. I was very disappointed as I was not at all prepared for such kind of interview. I am telling you this so that you can prepare yourself for such type of situation also.
