Should I use MATLAB or not?

6 years ago in Matlab By Aditi Sharma

I am from M.tech background and i am doing research about Signal Processing.
First, let me brief you about my research background. Signal Processing is the process of performing operations on signals for modification and amplification. Signal processing improves the quality and efficiency of signals. I have written introduction chapter and had already collected my data for the research.
My research demands to use MATLAB  but i have no clue how to incorporate it in my research. I have a very basic idea about it but i need to have a full fleshed knowledge if i want to use it in my research.
It would be great if someone could help me and tell me each and every detail about this tool.

Basically, MATLAB is the tool which is used to perform mathematical complex computations and it has various inbuilt tool boxes which perform required tasks according to the requirement of the user. This tool uses the scientific programming language to implement complex algorithms and analyze their performance in forms of numeric’s and graphs. I have a vague idea about your topic but i think your topic is good for thesis implementation in Matlab. As signal Processing is also of two types – Analogue and Digital. Signal Processing tools in Matlab can perform operations on the signals.

MATLAB, which implies MATrix LABoratory, is utilized for both the scholarly world and industry. It is an intuitive program for numerical calculation and information perception, which alongside its programming capacities gives an exceptionally helpful device for all zones of science and designing. Dissimilar to other numerical bundles, for example, MAPLE or MATHEMATICA, MATLAB cannot perform symbolic manipulations without the use of additional Toolboxes. It remains in any case, one of the main programming bundles for numerical calculation. As you may figure from its name, MATLAB deals for the most part with matrices. So, i think you should use MATLAB

I don’t agree, i think there is no need to use MATLAB. The concept which you are researching about could easily be studied under any other software that produces graph/figure. For example, you never refer to Excel or origin to show the reference.
