Data collection

6 years ago in Data collection By Sur M

What are the dependable ways through which I can gather the data for my research on internet? I thought making the web surveys and sending customized emails to the respondents would carry out the activity best, however then I truly don’t know how to do it. Additionally, I need to clear if online data gathering is even ethical?
Since we can’t see the respondents so I should trust their replies or not. This is the most confusing thing. Please help.

I am presuming that you are thinking to send emails to those respondents with whom you are familiarized very well. Otherwise, there is a scope that it could be a big failure. I think if you collect data offline that would be more suitable as nowadays you can’t trust online sources.

I agree, it’s not reliable at all and would probably affect your research. I would rather suggest you, keep your questions extremely precise. Respondents usually don’t take online surveys seriously and there can be a high dropout rate when faced with tricky questions. So, make it convenient for them. Good luck!

In my opinion, the plan of consolidating data online is actually good. Through this method, you can connect to a large number of population and it will also save your time. Choose your target audience wisely and the one from where you can get 80%response. All the best with your research.

Do not include personal questions because sometimes people avoid giving personal information. Develop your questionnaire in such a way that it keeps on revolving around the area of research. Try to find some expert help.
