Yes definitely. This method involves manipulation of an independent data/variable, while maintaining varying degrees of control over other variables (the dependent ones). Normally, this is employed to collect data that is to be used later on for analysis and correlations.

Yeah sure. According to me, the common experimental quantitative research methods are:
Laboratory experiments – This is a typical scientific experiment setup, that takes place within a confined and controlled environment. Here the data collector can have control over all the variables.
Field experiments – This type of experiment takes place in a natural environment. Although the data collector does not be in complete control of the variables, he will still be able to do so to a certain extent.
Natural experiments – Here the data collector has no control over the independent variable. Which means the data cannot be manipulated.
