Hey, don’t worry data gathering is so simple my friend. There are different data gathering procedures that you can use. It depends on your convenience and the ease in gathering the required details that you can use for the research results. I will brief you about different methods used for data collection. Interview: Through this method, you can gather raw and reliable data direct from your subjects. This method gives you a very credible result from this data gathering procedure. Surveying: It actually involves gathering responses from subjects through a written medium. This includes distribution of paper questionnaires for your subjects to answer. These are just some of the basic data gathering procedures that you can utilize for your research paper.

Hello, if you are talking about increasing divorce rate in general then you should study people’s’ mind and perspective by qualitative method. Go and talk to couples, single people, divorced and know their perspective regarding divorce. I think this will be the best suited method for data collection for your research. I am also giving you some links related to your research. You can read them and will get to know more about research methodology. http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.876.8255&rep=rep1&type=pdf , http://www.ucd.ie/geary/static/publications/workingpapers/gearywp201320.pdf

Your research will dictate the kinds of research methodologies you use to underpin your work and methods you use in order to collect data. If you wish to collect quantitative data you are probably measuring variables and verifying existing theories or hypotheses or questioning them. Qualitative research is carried out when we wish to understand meanings, look at, describe and understand experience, ideas, beliefs and values.
