How to write a literature review?

6 years ago in Literature Review By Raiman S

I want an expert to advise me the ways of selecting papers while writing a literature review. I am really confused, and all this confusion is leading to a delay in my thesis writing. I want to submit my paper on time. Please consider this question as urgent.

According to me, your literature review should tell a story and should present an argument, simultaneously. Search for the available literature, and then, decide which one is most suitable for your study. You should use the papers which are most secure and support your argument strongly. Try making your paper worth reading for the future PhD scholars.

Practice makes a PhD Scholar perfect! You must give your writing some time, and this will help you to have an experience and perfection. I know, it is difficult in the initial stages, but, it will help you in the long run.

You must focus on the recent studies, keeping in mind that they are secured from a high prestige source. Such as:  Rules of thumb for literature search, Knopf, 2006, p. 131 Booth et al, 2012, pp. 70-96) Petticrew and Roberts, 2006, pp. 79-124 Rocco et al, 2011, pp. 151-157).

Looking at recent research, identifying themes, new findings, and gaps in the literature are imperative but do not ignore some of the seminal literature as well for context and in deciding on how to design a study.
