Parameters to control the fluid flow

Hello, I have just completed my masters and willing to start PhD in fluid mechanics, I want to propose a new approach for velocity control. Hence want to know what parameters have to be considered to control the fluid flow based on the requirement?

It can be done by adopting convergent and divergent channels, this can be defined by the velocity of the fluid inlet with respect to the required output velocity. In this case, also nozzle design can be done if velocity is pre-defined.
