Steps to create TOC manually


Help please! I was formatting my research document as per the style demanded by my University. But all of a sudden my TOC stopped working. Is there any functional steps to continue with the formatting process.

Hey Vipin! Do not panic. This is absolutely normal and happens to majority of them. If you are using Word 2016 then you can create TOC very easily. Follow the below mentioned steps: Click on the document where you want to produce TOC. ( remember, do not forget to insert a page break before and after of the TOC if you want it to appear on its own every page). Click, reference tab, followed by tables of content group and table of contents. Choose the style of TOC you wish to include.

Vipin, It easy. 1.Create a separate document to hold the TOC 2.In the same document, use reference document field for every document you wish to include in your TOC 3.Add an RD field for each and every document 4.Create TOC in the initially created document
