Philosophy is not a science in the empirical, hypothesis-testing sense. It is a rational inquiry into fundamental questions (ethics, metaphysics, epistemology) that often precede and underpin science. Science investigates the natural world via empirical methods; philosophy analyzes concepts, logic, and the foundations of knowledge itself. They are distinct but complementary disciplines of reason.
