Can we create a way to control the flow of sound in one direction in device that uses acoustic resonators?

Hello all! I want to create a way to control the flow of sound in one direction in device that uses acoustic resonators. Is this possible?

Aditi it is definitely possible. If you have two acoustic resonators, then the sound will be stored in the first resonator can leak into the second. But remember that vice versa of this is not possible. This is something like creating one-way route for sound waves. Consider a flexible membrane that serves as an acoustic resonator. Place the acoustic resonator between two mirrors. Now the laser light traps between the mirrors and passes repeatedly through the membrane. The force exerted by the laser light can be used to control the membrane’s vibrations.

How can this be achieved ?

Aditi, you can achieve this by turning the knob of laser setting you can weaken the sound waves but on depending on the direction of the sound waves.

Aditi, the idea mentioned by Dev can be applied for the flow of heat from one object to another. By using one-way sound method, heat can be made to flow from point C to point D, or from D to C, regardless of which one is colder or hotter. This is similar to dropping an ice cube into a glass consisting of hot water and having the ice cubes get colder while the water around the ice gets warmer. By making a setting on the laser, heat is made to flow, and the ice cubes warm and melt while the liquid water cools down. You can replace ice cubes and water by two acoustic resonators in your experiment.
