To compare nested models, first run both the restricted (full mediation) and less restricted (partial mediation) models. Then, perform a chi-square difference test using their respective chi-square (χ²) and degrees of freedom (df) values. If Δχ² is significant (p < .05), the partial mediation model with the direct path offers a significantly better fit.
