Designing a powerful interview protocol

My supervisor suggested me to conduct interviews after reading my paper but he supervised me only a little about how the interview protocol is developed and how transcripts are refined. This was not at all useful. Is someone here who can guide me in creating an interview protocol for qualitative research?

Your interview protocol must be in order with your research question and literature review. For generating interview questions, get the clarity of the information which you require to investigate the issue and examine the questions for the respondent. Furthermore, as you are developing it for qualitative research, stay attentive while formulating qualitative questions. The mistake that generally researchers do is that they formulate the open questions too friendly which at times is good but not always. So, keep that in mind and go ahead with your research.

It can be formulated in the same way as you develop the quantitative questionnaire. The only exception is that you get only restricted data from respondents by questionnaire, whereas the interview protocol allows the interviewer to get more detailed information.
