Facing problem in conducting interviews
Hello! I am a PhD student of sociology, the subject of my study is a nomadic indigenous community that remains to be hunters and gatherers. The objective of my research is to discuss their lifestyles and also to study the effects of adopting new means of livelihood, within the community. Â In order to study this phenomenon, my research guide is insisting me to conduct interviews.
Please someone, brief me about, what should i add? How many questions should be there? What type of question should i ask in the interview?
I would appreciate if someone could suggest any idea related to conducting interviews.

First, identify that your interview is of which type as there are different types of interviews. Such as:
Informal, conversational interview- In this type of interview no predetermined questions are asked
General interview guide approach- This type provides more focused than the conversational approach
Standardized, open-ended interview- As the name suggests, this type of interview will have open-ended questions
Closed, fixed-response interview – this will have questions which will have fix response.
Now, i will tell you about the sequence of the questions
Get the respondents involved in the interview as soon as possible.
Before asking about controversial matters first ask about some facts.
Intersperse fact-based questions throughout the interview
Ask questions about the present before questions about the past or future.
Your last question should allow respondents to provide any other information they prefer to add and their impressions of the interview.
I think these points are enough and they will surely help you in conducting interviews for your research.

Just keep in mind the purpose of your study and make the questions accordingly. I think you should add only relevant questions. Try to keep your questions short and crisp.

Hey, there are so many Strategies on the internet for Developing Interview Questions. If you want to conduct closed ended questions, you should keep in mind what specific information do you need. If your questions are open ended then keep in mind the philosophical issues underlining in your research or if your questions are hypothetical then focus on creating situations determine an interviewee’s true feelings and likely responses to various circumstances.
