Technique to observes data items in a data set

Hello all. I want to observe data items in a data set. For this purpose should I use prediction technique or outer detection data mining technique? I feel both are similar. Any suggestion?

Preetham, according to me you cannot use prediction technique to observe data items in a data set. Maybe you can talk to your supervisor and get the doubts cleared.

I totally agree with Fathima. You cannot use predictive technique here. Predictive technique is used to analyse past events in order to predict the future events.

Agreed with Fathima & balram. Preetham, you should use outer detection method to observe the data items in a data set ( specially those data which do not match the expected behaviour).

Outer detection is also known as outlier mining and this type of technique can be used in various domains. Go for outer detection technique preetham.
