Discussion chapter
Hi, my study is based on melodrama and how the people of Kashmir are portrayed in it. So basically, I adopted a case study and interpretive approach for analyzing the data, where I reviewed films and serials and gave my interpretation. My results are ready, and I have a clear picture of my research. I have developed my research report/thesis as well. However, for the discussion chapter, my supervisor is not really convinced. He is saying that I have not related my findings with the literature and it’s just not coming across neatly. Well, to be honest, there is not much literature concerned with my area; moreover, I am not very sure as to how I am supposed to relate the existing researches with my study findings. I really need some help and advice as to how I can proceed with this. Thanks!

1. Always try to structure your Discussion chapter from the ‘specific’ to the ‘general.’
2. Make a consistent effort to stick with the same general tone of the introduction.
3. Start by rewriting your research questions and re-stating your hypothesis that you previously posted in your introduction.
4. Continue by explaining how your results relate to the expectations of your study and literature.
5. Make sure to give the proper attention to all the results relating to your research questions, regardless of whether or not the findings were statistically significant.
6. Don’t forget to tell your audience about the patterns, principles, and key relationships shown by each of your major findings.
7. Make sure to defend your answers.
