5 years ago in Chromatography By Raj Shravan

Is there any similarity between the thin-layer chromatography and paper chromatography? Or it is completely different?

No, there is no similarity between them. Paper chromatography is the liquid-liquid chromatography whereas thin-layer chromatography is the solid-liquid adsorption chromatography.

I agree with Pradeep. In paper chromatography, support material contains a layer of cellulose saturated with water. But in thin-layer chromatography a stationary phase is a solid adsorbent substance that is coated on glass plates.
