Is CSTR and PFR the same?


Is there any similarity between continuous-stirred tank and plug-flow reactor?

No, there is no similarity between plug-flow reactor and continuous-stirred tank.

Ramesh, I don’t know about the similarity. I just know that both the reactors are continuous reactor type.

I do agree with Mukesh. The assumption of PFR is that no axial mixing occurs between different “plugs” of material. Whereas in CSTR, perfect mixing is assumed to occur.

In CSTR is the outlet concentration same as the concentration in the reactor?
