Hey Shilpa, there are four types of bones namely; long, short, flat, and irregular bones. The long bones are the strongest bones present in the arms and legs. The short bones include the bones of the wrists, ankles, and toes. Flat bones are found in the shoulder, skull, and ribs. Irregular bones commonly clustered, are bones of the vertebrae and bones of the ears and face.

Could you give me some details about long bone?

By Aarav Answered 5 years ago

Sure! The elongated portion of a long bone, the diaphysis ( composed of tissue layers), the periosteum, compact bone, and medullary cavity. The two ends of bones, i.e. the distal epiphysis and proximal epiphysis, provide space for the muscles and ligament attachments near the joints.

Shilpa, based on porosity, there are two kinds of bone tissues. Compact (dense) bone and spongy (cancellous) bone tissue. Compact bone tissue is covered by periosteum thereby gives durable strength to the bone. Spongy bone is the porous and vascular inner portion of a long bone and provides a enough space for bone marrow.
