A problem statement is a brief description of any problem or issue to be addressed. The significance of writing a problem statement lies in its objective to address existing knowledge gap and lead to further research to bridge it.

A good problem statement should comprise of three important factors of any problem such as the absolute, practical and consequences.

It should be clear and precise in identifying what needs to be addressed and studied, main concepts, boundaries regarding the study. It should also indicate the focus of the study while maintaining its originality.

A good problem statement should be able to portray the study’s objective, benefits and be able to justify them rather than providing plain data.
