Achieving this balance requires iterative refinement. Start by including all theoretically justified constructs. Then, rigorously prune any that lack strong logical or empirical support, or that are redundant. The goal is a framework where every variable and path is essential to explain the core phenomenon. It should be as simple as possible, but no simpler—omitting key factors for the sake of neatness would sacrifice validity and explanatory power.
