How to write introduction section in APA formatting style?


I want to write an introduction chapter in APA (6th ed) formatting style. How do I do this? Any writing tips?

According to me, writing introduction chapter in APA style is similar to writing this section in any other format. Additionally, all that you have to do is take care of the margins, font size & style, header & footer, etc.

Introduction chapter in APA formatting style includes thesis/dissertation statement, research problem, and brief details about the background of the chosen topic. Avoid using phrases such as ‘this proof..’, ‘this proves..’, rather use ‘the study indicates…’ or similar phrases.

The introduction section should typically explain the terms, your research theme, hypothesis, a background of the topic under study, and brief about the current study topic. To format it in APA style, include1 inch margins on all four sides of a page, use times new roman font with 12 as font size, include a page header on the top of each and ensure that the running header doesn’t exceed 50 characters (including punctuation).
