My study demands me to write a background chapter. I looked for general tips to write one, but never found any. Can someone provide me useful hacks for the same?

Writing a background section isn’t very difficult task. All you have to do is introduce the research topic, provide a map for the background chapter, state the controversy and explain how you will perform the research. Isn’t this easy?

The background of your research must justify the need for choosing your research topic. It also summarises the aims of the research. The background chapter must address the research gaps, significance of those gaps, rationale of study, and the hypothesis of your research.

The background chater must interpret the earlier research and what the current research aims to accomplish. It should provide general information on the research topic and discuss the key results. You need not include literatures in this section. Further, if you need help in crafting this section consult professionals.
