Are journals are a better indicator of the quality of research than the H-index according to the latest survey? Researchers believe that Google scholar is unreliable, and no university or research centre is looking it seriously adding extra pressure on the scientists. Any answers on this, please!

Hi, A good question firstly. It is neither journal nor any index the better indicator of the quality of one’s research. It is in fact, your work or the achievement to which extent one takes beyond the solution of a problem what you’ve noticed which other not. It really doesn’t matter whether one refers to your contribution or not, it is now a common practice that the original contribution is rarely mentioned. However, one needs to dig deep and come out with the result to make a breakthrough. In this present culture of research publication, journals and some type of its impact factor, the inner satisfaction of the contribution that counts most, if you can defend your research. All the best!

Hello, I’m not 100% sure this to discuss but each approach to quantify the research quality has its advantages and drawbacks. If there’s existed one ideal index, then there would be no others around. Each researcher is in the first place does his research individually. We can not try to compare some reviews basing on only one method/theory? However, this is the state of matter that the research efficiency indexes are being taken into consideration more and more widely. Well, in some cases this can give some real information, but in alternative situations, it been considered silly. Get your research going on, and best regards for your work!

Hi, Researcher’s quality of research has to do with both the journals published and the citations they receive. So, a better researcher needs to do a good job with both. I think to estimate a researcher’s impact, one needs to check H-index that provided by Scopus and ISI web of science as well, which are better than Google Scholar. Google’s scholar’s attempt goes to count almost all citations received from the “web” which obviously can’t be true or may not create a “real” influence of a researcher on his/her academic field.
