To determine the relationship between two variables, use correlation study method. It can be used as the first step in the experiment process and also be used if the experiment cannot be conducted.

You have to use correlation research design to determine the relationship between two variables in psychology. The attributes of correlations include direction as well as strength. The direction may be positive, negative or unrelated. Whereas the strength of the correlation ranges from -1 to +1. Remember, 0 reflects no relationship between variables.

Correlation study is the right approach. The types of correlation study includes, 1) natural observation, which observes and records variables in a natural environment, without interfering. 2) Survey research includes collection of information through surveys or through questionnaires by selecting a random sample of participants. 3) Archival research analyses data collected by others. Although this method is often free, researchers do not have control over the data or how it was gathered.
