Are there any factors that drive the motor size?

Yes, there are three factors that need to be considered while sizing a motor. They are Power demands of the pump Operation look like for the pump Variable frequency drive (VFD)

Can someone explain to me if is the pump can be operated by the VFD?

Payal, If a pump is operated on a VFD, then the size of a motor should be NOL BHP, and that of the motor nameplate HP must be greater than the pump NOL BHP. Also, know that the motor service factor usually disappears when the motor is operated by a VFD. The only exception is if the pump is operated at a condition 100% of the time.
