How to score a Likert Scale?

I have developed a scale, and I want to know how to score the responses. What is the procedure to decide whether we have to start from 0 or 1 for each item?

You need to range the numerical values, and they could range from 1-5. For example, if the total respondents are 40 and the scale range could be 1= strongly disagree, 2= disagree, 3= somehow agree, 4= agree and 5= strongly agree,
