System biology emerged as a result of genetics catalogue provided by human genome project. Opting of research in system biology is not advisable for now. Although system biology has gained attention from biologists and is considered to be one of the important field, as for now it doesn’t have much scope. If you are interested in biology, maybe you can select some other stream in the same.

I do agree with Rajesh. It is advisable to choose some other subject like molecular biology, cell biology, genetics or microbiology. These subjects have good scope in the present as well as future. Also, there are hardly few institutes which offer you system biology PhD course.
