Hello,  I would appreciate topics like investment banking, investment management, corporate finance and other related subject areas. I did an MBA and successfully worked out on my previous research writings. However, one topic I would like you to consider for the PhD thesis or proposal will be the role of group that think plays on investment strategies. In large measure, this feature alone marks the difference between the people who stand by their own opinions against the people who follow the herd. More specifically, have the courage to standby against the majority even when the majority is fairly wrong on one point. All the best, mate!

Hey  Finance is the subset of Economics, that should be viewed as the social sciences, first and foremost. I do agree with Priya, groupthink is a great idea to ripen the work. And also, the other topics like psychology of the investment and economic management is also open for research. And I would like to recommend other related subject area, consider the climatic changes and efficient methods by which to shape the appropriate investment response; this also includes various topics to cover like banking, insurance, financial marketing efforts to cover their risk.
