Software

I am writing my thesis in civil engineering, and I need to use software to modify the design of the gearbox. I had to set up different specifications in which I will test and suggest the best possible changes in the design. Can anyone recommend me which software is suitable for this?

I think as per the brief you have given about your study, ANSYS is suitable for this kind of research. However, there are different versions available within ANSYS. So, you can read about them online and then decide which one to choose.

I think after reading and knowing about every information regarding the software you should take advice from your professors on identifying the suited version. As they would be able to give you the best advice.
