Fungal galls- Different fungi cause enlargements in leaves and shoots. Affected parts are many larger than normal, and are discolored and also succulent. Some leaf/ stem galls may turn brown and hard. The galls are rarely harmful to a plant. There is also something called the insect galls. These galls are caused by wasps. The tissue growth is the result of irritation that is caused by the feeding of an insect/ by powerful plant growth-regulating chemicals.

Crown gall is caused by the soil inhabiting bacteria. The bacteria enter the plant through wounds. Galls formed on roots, stems and crowns grow up to 10 inches in diameter. These galls interrupt the flow of water and nutrients, stunting the top growth.

Venu, another common galls are caused by Nematodes. These are microscopic worms that cause galls on the roots of a susceptible plant. These galls are small, individual and beadlike in some host plants. In other plant, galls may be massive accumulations of fleshy tissue which might be more than an inch in diameter.
