You can use both methods as both determine the cause of the phenomenon.

In true experiments, all the factors that might affect the phenomena of interest are controlled. 
However, if you are not able to control the factors, use a quasi-experimental research design.

Well, there are a few similarities between the two methods.
1.Study participants are subjected to type of treatment or condition
2.Few results of interest are measured
3.Differences in the outcome are related to the treatment (or not) can be tested

I would suggest you to use quasi design. Because they are practically feasible, suitable for real-world settings, 
allows you to assess the effect of quasi independent variable and answers hypothesis of a study.
