Sauder’s onion is also known as research onion model.    This model illustrates the various stages covered in the research process.    Each layer of the onion explains a more detailed stage of the research process and    provides an effective progression through which a research methodology can be developed and is based on ontology, epistemology, and axiology principles.

sauder’s onion also known as research onion model consists of three main layers.    Research philosophy, approach and strategy. Philosophy determines the methods used to collect and    use a certain set of data. No matter which philosophy (realism, positivism and interpretivism) use have chosen,    ensure that it aligns with your research objective. Next is the research approach layer.    This includes inductive and deductive methods. The inductive approach lets you to develop a    novel theory based on the collected data whereas the deductive approach verifies if the data collected holds good with the existing theories.    Research strategy consists of the source and nature of the data. Based on nature, the data can be qualitative or quantitative.    Include which strategy you have used and why

sauder’s onion not only consists of three layers. It contains five layers and all are crucial.    The other two layers are time horizon and data collection. Time horizon is of two types cross-sectional and longitudinal study.    Data collection layer highlights the underlying techniques that were used to collect the data.
